Dragonflies are such elusive creatures, fluttering and darting here and there! It is hard to match their beauty but with this painting, I have at least captured a little of their coloring. This close up of the painting shows off the deep blues and purples of all dragonflies.

This painting is done on stretched canvas and is #009 in my Colored Shapes with Black series. I paint beyond the edge, completely covering all sides with color. You can hang Dragonfly without a frame for a minimalist look. When a painting is completed, I spray it lightly with clear, protective acrylic for a durable finish that will last for centuries. Dragonfly is a one-of-a-kind paintings. It is signed, titled, dated, and numbered on the back.

For this series, I sketched out the basic lines in pencil, filled in with color, then outlined in black. Dragonfly is a statement piece with bold shapes and rich, deep colors that please the eye. I think it would look good hanging above an aquarium.
